  1. I followed the instructions and used white.cake mix but it
Is REALLY sticky. What do you recommend

    • Hi Suzanne,

It will be a sticky dough. Sometimes it comes out sticky”er” than others. You can let it stand in the fridge for 10-15 mins. or use spoons to scoop out your dough and drop them straight in the sprinkles. You can cut back slightly on the water or try a different brand of cake mix to see if that works better for you. I hope you try them again.

      Thanks. :)

      • Suzanne,

How were the cookies taste wise? I am always curious to see what people think of the taste of a new recipe that they haven’t tried before. Do they taste like cake, like a cookie…I’m so confused! lol

        Thanks,
        Mary

  2. Looks great!! I just made Christmas pretzel bites similar to this – square pretzel, Hershey kiss and a Smartie on top.

How many cookies does this make? Would love to make them for my son’s school concert this week.

  3. So what brand if cake mix do you recommend?

  4. If you keep a small cup of warm water by you when rolling the dough into balls it helps to keep your fingers wet. It worked great for me, and the sticky job much easier!!

  5. ya just a hint..you Must leave on cookie sheet until completely cooled as the candy won’t hold its shape if you move them..lol still pretty tho..
I put the dough in the freezer for a bit and it was easier but still sticky..

  6. lLindsay rhone says:

? Mine came out really flat is there any suggestions for this? I made sure they were in a ball.

  7. I have made these cookies a ton of times (with all different cake mixes),however, I use a melted stick of butter instead of the water and oil. I have never had issues with the dough being sticky. If you use this method you do need to flatten the cookies before they are baked. Hope this helps!

  8. I thought these looked like a great recipe to make with my two-year-old. The dough was so sticky, it was almost impossible to work with. I even put it in the fridge for 40 min. I will have to make a different variation of it next time.

    • Oh I’m so sorry to hear that Alicia! :( I’ve never had that problem. Maybe you could try to way Amanda makes them… with a stick of butter instead of the oil and water. If you try it I would love to hear how they turned out. :)
